With the holiday weekend coming I've been thinking about this one. The trail system here is advertised at 90+ miles now, and the color-coded routes seem to be bringing people in. Green is the hard one, Blue is the scenic loop, Yellow is moderate, Orange goes through the woods. Sunrise to sunset, marked trails only, no fires, no hunting, no overnight camping on the trails.
I can see both sides. More riders means more money for the Village, and the lanes and the restaurants clearly benefit when a group rolls in and stays for lunch. That's good for a town our size.
But I've also heard from friends who live near the big parking area by the bowling alley. Trucks and trailers are lined up and engines are running early in the morning, and on busy weekends it sounds like the lot is full before the sun is even up. I don't live right there, so I'm not going to pretend it bothers me the way it bothers them.
For those of you who ride, or live close to where the groups meet: is it really that bad, or is it a few loud weekends? And has anyone heard whether the Village is planning anything for parking or noise? I'd like to know what's actually being discussed before I decide how I feel about it.
